O Lord Jesus, bind us together
in love and peace,
through the power of your spirit living in us.

Unite us in faith and love
to you and to each other,
in a deeper bond as your family.

Help us to use all the graces and gifts,
talents and abilities that you have given
to us, in order to build your body.

O Father, guide us as we grow together,
so that we your children,
may reach maturity in the body
of Christ Jesus, Your Son.

Amen.

The seven sorrows are: Simeon's prophecy at the presentation of Jesus in the temple, the flight into Egypt, the disappearance of the boy Jesus in Jerusalem, the road to Calvary, the crucifixion, the removal from the cross, and the entombment. The feast was instituted in 1668 by Servire Friars out of their devotion to Mary. In 1814, Pope Pius VII extended the feast to the whole Western Church. ..[Read more]
